Someone told me that, during her weight loss of 50 lbs, she was sick a lot of the time. Her doctor had told her that germs in the body are stored in fat, so as she was losing weight, the germs were being released into her system. So far, this seems to be the case with me, too. First there was that strange "it's-not-mono" thing a couple of weeks ago, and now I've got a really nasty cold that started on Saturday. The irony of this, of course, is that I'm now eating better, and am more conscious of my nutrients, than I ever have been in my entire life! Where's my positive reinforcement here? :)
In every other aspect, things seem to be going quite well. I haven't been keeping track in the paper journal, but I'm not so far behind as to be unable to play "catch-up". My goal for this week is to maintain a caloric deficit of around 500 calories each day, to get back in the swing of things. (It's already too late for last Saturday, but since I only decided this yesterday, I'm going to let myself off the hook for that one.) I'm also going to make a concerted effort to get that water in. I wasn't as bad off as I thought, since I just learned I can count non-caffeinated, non-alcoholic beverages for up to half of it, so my morning OJ helps. But still -- I've been neglecting this part for too long.
Frank told me I was down a little bit this morning, so that was nice to see. Last night I was looking back through my archived blog entries, and one of the things that really made me happy was watching that little blue scale progress towards my goal. I still have a long way to go, but things are moving in the right direction, and sometimes I really need that visual cue to keep me on track.
