Milestones.

Today is a red-letter day for me. There is only one negative thing, and I'll get it out of the way now: This is the first time I've had a serious migraine last longer than one day, and the timing couldn't be worse.

Okay, now that that's over with, let's get on to the good stuff.

1) Today I will see, in person, the Queen Mary 2, a ship I've been anxiously wanting to see since before she was launched. She is the biggest ocean liner in the world, and unlike these cruising bohemoths, she still has the classic lines of a graceful ship. She's coming to my port city today, and no stupid headache is going to get in the way of my seeing her.

2) Today, when I hopped on the scale, the result read 269.2 pounds. This means that I have said goodbye (and good riddance!) to the 270s.

3) The result on the scale means that I've lost more than 25 pounds now.

4) A reading of 269.2 on the scale means that my BMI has dropped out of the 40s and into the 30s.

5) Dropping out of the 40s on the BMI means that I am no longer "morbidly obese". My weight is still a serious threat to my health -- make no mistake -- but it's no longer a "done deal" that it's what's going to be the death of me. This is the first big health-related milestone I've had, and I can't tell you how pleased I am to be here.

Like some stupid little headache is going to take this away from me. HA!
