Remember that headache I had earlier in the week? I still have it, waxing and waning. I was thinking that this was a little strange, but I wasn't thinking much of it, or the fact that I've been really sleepy the last few days, or the fact that eating was a huge chore yesterday and I went to bed having five mandatory points still to eat.
I didn't pay much attention to any of this, until I woke up this morning and realized it felt like I was growing a bolt out of the side of my neck a la Frankenstein. Turns out it's a lymph node swelling up like mad, between my left ear and the hinge of my jaw. Feels like I've got a pebble buried deep under my skin, and it really hurts.
So I called the telecare number and described what was happening, and they told me to get to my doctor, and fortunately they could fit me in. So I go, and wait for a bit, and then it's my turn.
Norma, the nurse, picks up my chart and as she's about to ask, I smile sweetly and say, "Yes, I *would* like to have my weight checked today." Bemused, she looks down at my last recorded weight (from July) and plays with the sliders on the scale and exclaims, "You've lost twenty pounds!"
"Twenty-five," I reply. "Right now we're also weighing my jeans, bus fare and breakfast."
It was a very nice moment. Norma is a sweetheart, anyway, but she was very excited for me. As for the results of the doctor's exam, I got sent off to the vampires for bloodwork check (you remember how I feel about needles), and I'm now awaiting the results of a mono test, along with my usual check-up.
And judging by the fact it sounds like aliens are trying to attack me through my roof, I'm guessing the roofers may have just arrived.
Before I forget -- looks like I've dropped a bit more.
