Fresh Start

So, I went to the WW meeting this morning, my first in the new centre. I bought ten weeks' worth of meetings, and a new pedometer. There is nothing like a new gadget to get me re-invigorated. In the next couple of days, I'll be overhauling a few pages on the site, as part of my "fresh start".

I'm a little miffed at the moment, though. As part of my recommitment to myself, I stopped at a bulk food chain (let's call it "Bulk Farm", for the sake of discussion). Since this particular company does not easily allow you to take the nutritional information with you (no tear-off sheets, no readily-available paper, even), and since I always have my camera with me, I figured it would be just as easy to take out my camera and take a snapshot of the nutritional info.

Apparently, that's a big no-no. "It is company policy of [Bulk Farm] that you are not allowed to take pictures in our stores", I was told in no uncertain terms. I explained exactly what I was doing, and my frustration with the time it would take to write everything down, and yet, no luck. So I asked for a contact number for the company, and I intend to tell them exactly what I think. The way I see it, if they aren't willing to make it easy for nutrition-conscious consumers to keep the information they need, then they shouldn't go out of their way to make it harder. I know part of the way they keep their costs down is by not providing packaging, but, at the same time, without the package or a tear-off sheet, they are hindering people's efforts to become healthier. The least they could do would be to put the info on their website.

If you think I sound testy now, you should have seen me when I was told to put my camera away. It's a food store, for pity's sakes, not a top-secret government agency.

I wonder how many activity points I'm earning, sitting here fuming, right now. :)

Hi Karen! It was so nice to see you this morning. You mention that you came to the new Centre, but you didn't share your thoughts. I am dying to hear your reviews (hoping that they are good ones of course!).

Sorry that the "Bulk Farm" was so rude and ridiculous. One upset customer tells how many? I think that you can boost those stats in no time.

Enjoy the pedometer and the fresh start. You are going ot do just GREAT! Congrats on your return.

To be fair, the gentleman at "Bulk Farm" was very polite, and seemed almost reluctant to have to say anything to me at all. When I asked for the contact info for the company, he was very quick to provide it.
